I tryed the top speed after my Spoon header, V2 intake and t1R exhaust went in. By the time I had 4.57 gears already and I saw 275KMH when I reached 9k in 6th. Was scared to hit the rev limiter so I finished the run. Now that's 171mph and the speedo reads 10% higher with the gears so I was doing 171/1.1=156mph..if you do some mods, you are gear limited on the AP1 too.

After all I said and done, 125mph is the maximum reasonable speed for this car. Everything above is some scary shit, you are reving like there is no tomorrow and all you want is come back to "normal" speeds.

Your calculations are just a bit off. With 4.57 gears on an AP1, 9000 rpm will only give you 148.4 mph in 6th according to this calculator:

http://www.turnzero.com/technical_resource...gear_calculator

4.57s will give you an +11.5% speedo error. If you take the max geared speed of a 4.10 AP1 of 165.4 mph and apply the 11.5% reduction, you would end up with about 146 mph. And this doesn't calculate into it, the 1% to 2% natural speedo error which, when put in, will most likely get you that 148.4 mph.

Well, all the car mags report a top speed of a little over 150. With AP1's like mine where top speed is drag limited, top speed is ahieved in 5th. My calculations show that IF an AP1 were modded to fully overcome the drag limitation in 6th and could hit red line in that gear, the top speed would be 168.75.

Thanks,
Richard
ap1 does not reach top speed in 5th. 6th gear still pulls.

by the way, ignoring tire flux, the top INDICATED speed on the cars is roughly:

AP1 = 174mph (if you have enough power to get it there or are going down a slight hill)

AP1 = 150-160 drag limited. this varies depending mostly on wind speed and direction. I have seen 163, but I think the wind was slightly in my favor.

AP2 tops out about 155-157mph indicated, gear limited.

You may have the video, but you don't have the information that goes with it. The guy that owns that car was nicknamed "Turbo Dave". Does this give you a hint? Also, if you look at that vid, he's going DOWN a gentle incline. So who's the "genius" now?
turbo dave was actually N/A, contrary to his name. the reason he hits 174mph, as you stated, is because of the slight hill he's going down.

Your speedo might have indicated 155, but you were at least a few clicks short of that. Speedometers, at higher speeds, have known to be off by up to 15%.
actually, the S2000 speedo remains quite accurate. i've seen several who have radar or gps verified their speeds, myself included. I had 163 indicated, while it was 157 verified.

i topped out 6th at 156/157mph indicated with my 4.57 S2000. again, this is indicated speed.

FWIW, when i'm going 75mph indicated, radar says I'm going 73mph.

The incline has to have been much more than what you could actually see in the vid. I recall it was a long sweeping curve going down. Top speeds don't mean much unless you do it on the same road, at more or less the same time, going in the other direction. This compensates for incline, wind and other factors that have had a play. Makes for a dramatic vid though.
