Well guys, I read in a Road & Track road test of an early AP1 that top speed was achieved in 5th gear. Of course, that does not make it so.

I know what all of you mean by the lack of "pleasantness" of driving an s2k at high three-digit speeds. I had driven my s2k to Dallas and then had a family emergency back home in Okla. City. There's a stretch of I 35 between these cities I call "the American Autobahn", as if you aren't going at least 90, you'll get run over -- even in the slow lane. Due to my emergency, I cranked up to 120 and went. And enjoyable drive, it was not. I have never heard so much engine, road, and wind noise in my life. But then, nobody ever said this was a GT car, did they?

Thanks,
Richard

it's not pleasurable because of the noise level. though it feels pretty stable at those speeds.

Agreed! At 120mph, my s2k felt planted to the road, had a great on-center steering feel, and the engine seemed to be saying "come on, now let's REALLY go!" But it sounded like the inside of a machine shop.

Thanks,
Richard

It might sound like a question with an obvious answer, but I'm curious anyways. If the top speed of a car is gear limited, would you be able to increase the top speed with more power such as going FI?

I don't think so, as I think "gear limited" means the car is at red line at top speed in 6th. Am I wrong?

Thanks,
Richard

I don't think you're wrong. I'm guessing FI will probably just get you there faster. I think I just answered my own question, heh.

If you are gear limited, FI gets you there faster, but your top speed won't be any higher.
