Default Regarding OEM Spoiler parts

Another question for everyone... For the people who has installed it before should know what I am talking about.

I bought an oem lip trunk spoiler from a local without any hardware. I figured I can get whatever I need at Home Depot or Menards minus the trunk spring. What I didnt realize though, there should have been bolts coming out on the sides of the spoiler pre-installed which mine were missing.

I'm guessing it is 6mm since that is the only socket wrench size needed for the installation through the HnA instructions. If anyone can tell me exactly the size for those bolts would be great. Thanks in advance

Gabe

ps- I did try a 6mm bolt in those holes and it didnt seem right. But I did just get the spoiler painted so maybe thats why it was not as smooth. I dont want to force it through the threads until I know for sure it is the right size.

The two in the center are for bolts, and the two on the ends are studs. I have no idea if the spoiler is threaded. Can you take a macro pic of the hole for us? The threads are 6x1 I beleive, does a bolt thread in nicely?

I used 3M's red double sided stickey tape with adheasive promoter. I did not want to drill holes in my trunk so I just taped it on. I know it sounds ghetto to some but this is the same tape a lot of body kits and other exterior accessories are held on with, it is vary strong and durable. Just a idea for you if you are looking for another option to mount your spoiler.

That's what most lip spoilers and OEM body kits use (in addition to bolts)... but is that strong enough for the bigger lip on the s2k? I've been wondering....

Do you have a pic of your install?

The OEM spoiler is eye candy, it has little to no function at all. If it had more of a functional designe I would recomend using bolts. In this case I would say the tape alone is good enough. I have had mine mounted for 3 years and have not had any problems, note the fact I live in some what of a harsh environment when it comes to cars.

If you use this tape it is vary important to clean the surface vary well removing all the wax so the tape sticks directly to the paint, I would also recomend using a adheasive promoter, it makes the bond much stronger.

I have a prelude wih a wings west hood bonnet and "per wings west" it is mounted with this same tape. It actually gets a lot of wind restance too, I was vary skech at first. I have never had a problem, and it has been mounted with the same tape for over 4 years.

I was just saying it is the same tape used on body kits so you knew what type of tape I was talking about. I will try to get a few pictures tomorrow for you, I have to wash my car first it is super dirty.

I was actually able to figure out the studs coming out of the sides. They were, as assumed 6mm. I just ended up only drilling the two holes on the side and not the ones in the middle. Didn't want to put unnecessary holes in my trunk and I hear alot of the aftermarket spoilers use those same holes anyways.
As much as I would love to just use double stick tape, I would just be too worried about it flying off when I'm driving. It'll drive me nuts thinking it might fly off on the highway and hit some person behind. It'll cause me more headache.
Anyways, I love the look of the oem spoiler. Regardless that it is a useless part, it seems to make the flow of the car look so much better. I'll have pictures of it later if you guys want.

i installed mine myself, and only used the 2 side studs. however, i added the 3m red tape to the middle part to get rid of the gap. might want to give that a shot - makes it look a lot less aftermarket, and i assume that's what you're going for since you got the spoiler instead of the ap2 wing.
