Regret Molesting Your S2K?
I believe someone is selling a 10/10 set of AP2V2 with new tires on our Bay Area forum - $800. I've never seen a set of aftermarket wheels that looked better than stock, IMO. Close, but not as nice. Being an old timer, I can never get past the fact that dark/black rims look like wheels after the hubcaps got stolen.
I regret my firm motor/transmission mounts. As soon as I got them in, I had to move away from my AutoX and track. Now I just have a less comfortable daily driver. I need to build up the motivation to get back under there and put it back to stock.

As you age your taste do change, loud exhuast and slammed to the ground will make you look like and old cat trying to roll with the young crowd.

please excuse me, but i resent a pushrod (a 50s design) car being made a standard that could "destroy anything" except a GTR. it has a lot of torque (huge displacement, that's why the car has to be that big) sure, but not much RPM (hp = torque X RPM / 5252). in contrast, the F series are space and fuel efficient, apart from having low friction losses and polar moment of inertia (thus true sports car with good power-to-weight ratio), and with a turbocharger can and in fact destroys the antedeluvian "destroyer." it is sad we have to sound like engineers to counteract disinformation. truth should out.

'Resent' an engine that's over 50 years old?
That pushrod design gets better gas mileage than the S2000. 2014 Corvette Z51 gets 17/29(combined 21) and a 2007 S2000 gets 18/24 (20 combined) according to Edmunds.com.
I love my 07 S2000, but what GM has done with the C7 is simply amazing.

I'll always remember the "4 cylinder shootout" that one of the car mags used to do. After 10 pages of modified EVOs, STIs and S2000s talking about carbon fiber, aluminum wheels, boost and wether or not they were still streetable, the last paragraph would be that the fastest lap time was set by their "benchmark" Corvette Z06. These were shop demo cars well into the 6 figure price ranges. There is just no getting around that a car from the factory fully designed around a high level of performance is tough to beat.
Not at all. I would rather enjoy my car and make memories than let it collect dust, scared to put on miles. The way I see it, when you're old and gray, a low mileage car won't bring you happiness, but all the memories of enjoying it will.
The only thing I won't do is rear-over fenders. I think they look awesome but there's no going back after that lol

I don't mind mildly modified S2000s (or any car for that matter) at all. I own one myself. The key is not doing anything that isn't irreversible, meaning keep ALL stock parts and avoid stupid things like fender rolling (still amazes me how people sell their stock parts and destroy fenders). If you have the ability to take your S2000 back to 100% stock at anytime without buying parts or going to the body shop, then you're good.
Define molest...
I'd sell a kidney before I sold the car, so going back to stock isn't an issue for me. If you're worried about the exhaust noise, pick something that puts out similar to stock sound levels and you'll probably end up with something that is fairly sedate outside of larger amounts of throttle. I have a Tanabe Medalion Touring and it's quiet at idle/cruise.
Unless your car is really high miles or running like crap, you should be getting much better mileage than that, even if you are putting your foot in it everywhere. I get 24 mpg in town as an aggressive driver and the best I've ever gotten out of it driving like an old lady in town was 27 mpg. Depending on speed I get 30-32 on the highway and if you want to cruise like you're 90 on the highway (50-55 mph) you can get 38 mpg.
