Default Regular gas during gas shortage

I live in Mobile, AL. As you may know, there's a gas shortage here. There is no gas in most stations. According to the radio, about three stations in the city at any given time have gas. About half an hour ago, I found a station with a short line and joined it. 20 minutes later, the attendant told me that they only have regular (87) gas, because that's all that they're being sent. I still have half a tank left, so I decided not to risk it for the time being. So, my question is, will a mixture of 93 (say, 4 gallons) and 89 (I'd guess I need about 8 gallons to fill up) hurt my engine? I know I'll get lower performance, but that's not an issue.
I've cruised through the search and learned about the knock sensor, but I don't really know what the sensor will do. Any advice would be appreciated.

It'll work with lower octane fuel. The ECU will "deal with it". Just don't run it hard with that fuel. If you can get a bottle of octane boost (if that's available) and add it to the tank.

You can actually drive a car in that devastation?

I'm don't live in downtown Mobile. I'm in what they call West Mobile, where no flooding seems to have occurred. The damage here was solely from the wind. So we have lots of downed trees and fences along with the occasional destroyed building, but overall we got off fairly lightly. Power was restored after a few days to most places (at least around me) and now the major problems are (in reverse order) the curfew they instituted, low food supplies, and gas shortages.

^^^Werd.

Drive as little as possible...and if you do fill up with 87 only do it once and be sure to add an octane booster.

My thoughts and prayers to the devastated southeast portion of the USA.
