Default Reinforce Top/Patch

I started to notice a wear mark on my top on my passangers side. I'm planning on taking it to Honda to have them look at it, but I have read many threads about them not covering the top. I am hopeful they can fix it, especially since the car only has 16k miles on it, and is still under warranty. If they dont cover it, i would like to reienforce it since it has not worn all the way through. I know I read a couple threads awhile back about people doing this, but I couldnt remember what they used. The search function isnt turning them up either. Please any suggustions are welcome.

If you are still under warranty you should be high tailing it to the nearest dealership that will put a new top on for you. Do not patch it before they get to it or they will blame your shoddy workmanship as the cause. Just my 02.

You can get vinyl backing scraps from uphostery shops and car stereo installers.

If you are not in warranty, try this thread to get a new good-willed soft top:

They make a nylon (and a kevlar) iron-on patches. Check at an upholstery store. I used one on my '91 miata a few years back. held for a month or so in the elements (water tight) while I saved for a new top (those are only like $700 installed for the miata...WTF!?!). I imagine if you put one on the inside, it would last longer, as it is not exposed to the elements.

I would also be interested in this. I bought my car used and it had holes in the soft top.
I definitely need to either ditch it and get a hard top, or replace it.

I wasn't sure if there was a way to just replace the fabric and keep the assembly or if the whole thing had to be replaced.

Yes, you can replace just the fabric/window without the frame. If you have a plastic window and want glass, that can be part of the deal.

I used silicone sealant and a piece of vinyl to patch the interior of the top where I was developing wear holes.

Honda makes a repair kit for the top.
