Default Reliability

i know its a honda but how many members have blown their engine not because of neglegence but manufacturer defect. also, is it worth getting a powertrain warranty when the factory runs out?

and for the AP2 owners who has the most miles?

The extended warranty SUCKS! On top of treating me like crap when I bring it in, the dealership has denied both my claims (faulty top and sticky clutch). I wouldn't buy it if it cost $.50.

As for the motor itself, I've never had even the slightest problem.

i wouldn't get the complete extended service contract just the extension on the powertrain.

i know that service contracts differ from warranties in regards to what it covers but a dealer should not deny a problem if its still under warranty or you have an extension. bring it to another dealer or speak to the gm of the store and if that doesn't work call honda.

In my experience with the extended warranty, it is not worth anything near what they charge for it, but i got the extended warranty for free with the s2000, and on my old RSX i got it for i think 1/2 the price. I would say you will find it a lot less usefull than you think, but if you can get a deal on it or better yet get it for free then it might be worth a little peace of mind.

I've heard mostly all horror stories with Hondacare's extended contract. Does anyone have any good experiances with the S2000 and third party warranties? I've been considering the one my credit union offers seeing as my car is financed with them right now.

I'm not real convinced that any of the newer motors blow from manufacturing defect whereas I know Americans don't check their oil and over-revving is a constant problem.

The dealers are F'd if they cover something and Honda says they won't pay for it. If the dealer won't cover a problem. You need to take it to honda corporate. If they say they'll pay for it then the dealer will cover it. Simple as that. The dealer should be the first but, not only person you see about warranty work.

If you paid for an extended warranty, they have an obligation to either cover it or give you a real reason why it's not covered. I think some of you may give up too soon.

i don't think its so much as honda or hondacare but the dealer and not every dealer is the same. there are good ones and not so good ones its just a matter of finding the right one. the big high volume dealers with service excellence awards are the ones i usually go to. i do miss going to lexus for service because they'll do anything to make sure you get great customer service. you bring in a problem and they don't say anything but we'll take car of it. no questioning or doubting the problem, just great service with a loaner and endless muffins and drinks.

the c/u insurance is not the same and make sure you read the fine print. they're mechanical breakdown insurance not service contracts. my c/u offered the same thing and after comparing the two there were good things with honda eventhough it costs more.
