It's a Honda, that's what prompted me. And it's the 2nd coolest Honda there is, IMO. Can't afford #1............................yet.

I just bought my s2000 a month ago. It is white/tan 2003. I orignally have a white supra, and always have a fetish for white sport car. I have done reseach on the s2000 for years and never have the courage to test drive it, Cuz i know that when i drove it, i will buy it. Well fast forward to last month, I finally decided that i cannot wait any longer. Even though next year the S2200 will come out with 2.2 liter engine. I have to have it now, I still have not put it into use yet, still parking in the garage. I wonder, is it pure impulse, desire, wants. or needs. Problem with having the s2000 is I have been neglecting my girl friend. I care more about the car than the women.

My wife wanted a "fast, fun sports car" years ago, so we initially looked at Mustangs (GT, Cobra), Audis (TT, Coupe), and even the NSX (yeah - like THAT was going to happen). I read a review on the S2K in Car & Driver, showed it to her, and we were intrigued. Went to a local Honda dealer the next day, got the whole sales pitch INCLUDING the comparo video (showed S2K vs. Boxter, TT, Z3). She loved the car, bonus points because it was a Honda (reliable), so the obsession began. She wanted the Silverstone with red interior at first, but when Spa Yellow Pearl was offered as a color, we were both sold on it. Test drove an SYP that was stickered at $40k (NO JOKE) when the S2K future was in queston - dealer tried to capitalize on the uncertainty - the idiots! Decided to buy one if (and when) the rear window was made of glass. MY01 and MY02 came and went, no S2K. On a whim, went to see a dealer for price on a used SYP MY01 - ended up with a great deal on our SYP MY02 with only 54 miles on her (sat at small dealer in upstate Washington for a year!) and now "ESter" sits in our driveway.

When the '53 Corvette came out, I loved it, loved its size, loved its shape, loved its fiberglass body panels, but I was only 7 and I couldn't afford it. I had a huge collection of plastic cars with friction motors. My dad did buy a '53 Chevy BelAire and that was the sexiest car ever in my family of origin. Once my dad test drove a black used '57 Lincoln Continental Mark II. In my memory it was smaller, closer to the Corvette, but my memory is apparently wrong. Anyway, he passed on it in favor of a Ford station wagon. The station wagon had its own charms when dating age came.

'56 Lincoln Continental

Fast forward to the spring of 1999. Our local dealer pinned up a newspaper photo of the S2000 on his bulletin board. (The pic is still there.) Then in November he got in his first Silver/Red-Black. I loved it. He was selling for MSRP. By April of '00 I put $500 down on his first '01. The rest is history.

Very interesting story's. Here's one for you. June 2002, I was driving my 1971 Triumph TR-6, on LPGA Blvd., in Daytona Beach, when a silver convertible flew past me and caught my attention. I slid into the lane behind this vehicle and saw it was a Honda, could not believe my eyes, been a Honda owner since 1980. I followed the car all the way to its home. The lady thought I was stalking her, wouldn't get out of the car, lol, and was about to call the police. When I explained that I was intrigued with the car, her comment was "its a S2000, get one you will be in love with it". That night I went out on the net and started doing research on the S2000. The next day when to the dealer and placed my order, 5 months later it arrived. Took ownership on Thanksgiving Day 2002, and she was right, it is a wonderful vehicle, and really do love it. I have not seen this lady since, but she definitely had the right idea about the S2000, and I have enjoyed meeting others in the area who feel the same way.

I know about the S2000 when it first came out.
At that time i didn't have any money saved up and i didn't want to deal with the plastic
rear window.
Fast forward to 02 with better radio and glass.
I started looking at buying one.
But prices were high due to the changes.
When 03's came out i really looked hard and prices have fallen so close to an 02
I got the 03.

Only thing bad is all the rain we are getting in the east coast this yr.

I was trying to recreate the feeling of my 1974 Fiat 128, but in a convertible. No, not a stock Fiat. Full race motor, 166 hp, semi-tube frame, race chassis mods, and one quick little car; 0-60 5.2, 1/4 14.2-14.5 sec, depending on weather. Quick for its day, and with a 9000 rpm redline, too!

So I drove this and that. Miata had the handling feel, but no go.
Porsche felt, well, Teutonic. M roadster, too pricey. Then, after about 2 blocks in the S "Eureka". Not quite the low end smack the Fiat had, but upper end felt similar. I reached the point in my life that I had neither the time nor the burning desire to spend the spare time I don't have building up a car. The S works very well out of the box, and it gets 30 mpg, not 14!
