Remembering my S2000 stories
I came upon this picture that was taken of me by a guy at the Woodburn drag strip. This day always brings smiles to me.

(note: The stands on that side of the track were closed)
I had picked up one of the first S2000's in the USA. The day they rolled out, each dealer got 2, most were sold out and I got lucky (paid $5K over). Since they were delivered here in Portland, we had first shots. The response to the car was amazing back then, I had people hanging out of their windows to look at the new car for months. Crazy people!
So I took it to the drag strip a few days later. It was a heavy day, many of hundreds of people. The S2000 was mobbed by people while in line. It had a huge crowd taking pictures.
When I got up to staging the large crowd in the stands went nuts, people were screaming and cheering. I've never seen anything like it.
For my first run at like 500 miles, I at least pulled a 14.6 so I was happy.
That was a great day.
If you ever doubted the popularity of the S2000, you wouldnt if you lived thorugh the first few months of roll out.

I remember hearing about that. I remember driving the car when I first got it in late 99 and people going crazy when they saw it. There were lots of stories back then of people crashing into things while looking at S2000's. It was great, people were always yelling questions and wanting to know what it was. Now it seems like there's one on half the used car lots around here.
to this day I still have onlookers wondering what my car is. At stoplights and at gas stations. I live in L.A where S2000's are quite popular. I'm sure its not as great at when they first came out, but I still get it. Makes you more of a proud owner.
