Default Remote Trunk Release

I would like to add a push button release under the dash to open the trunk, rather than having to become a contortionist to use the one in glove box. Besides, I sometimes need to open the trunk while the car is running and the glove box is locked - I hate having to take the key out of the ignition just to get the trunk open.

I also think that a kill switch for the trunk release, perhaps in the trunk, would also be good. I still want the key remote to continue to work, even bypassing the kill switch.

Has anyone done this type of mod ? I would like to understand where and which wires would need to be modified.

Try a search. I rewired the alarm control so that the remote still works with the car running. You can also unlock all the doors with the remote. I got the instructions here.

Modifry mod'ed the trunk switch to only work with the key on. This was done for security. I think that with this information, you might be able to create the mod you are asking for.

Here is a link

Jason, thanks for the instructions, I followed your instructions as well as the points made by Modifry. I can now open the trunk and unlock passenger door using the remote.

Note: if you can not operate the passenger window after completing this mod, check the window lock button on the driver's door - it has nothing to do with the keyless entry mod (thanks Modifry)
