Is the "trunk open" icon on the dash working when you open the trunk with the key?

both the remote and the button inside the console operate an electrical soloniod next to the trunk lock that opens the lock (the key operates the lock directly) Sounds like there's an electrical problem either in that circuit or in the soloniod itself---not sure how to troubleshoot it though---if you don't get many responses here, may want to try the Electronics Forum--maybe someone who hangs out there can help
good luck

Maybe the battery in the remote is going bad. Holding the button for a second or two might stress it.

Does the button in the console work if the ignition is turned on?
