My front end is covered with the hard remains of all those bugs that I hit. What is the best way of removing them without damaging the paint?

I use Meguires Quick Clay detailer. You squirt the detailer on the affected areas and then use the clay like a giant eraser over the bugs. Then wipe off the clay like it was wax and the car will be perfect. I have a transparent bra on mine now so soapy water is all I need to remove bugguts

No help to you, but my detailing supplier has a product called "Bugs away" and it is fantastic as I get a lot of cars that drive to the beach and they are covered with bugs. I spray it on, wait a few minutes and hose off. If you want, I could give you the name and number of my supplier who is located in PA. near Philly. He sells it in Gal. size and you use at full strength. [QUOTE]Originally posted by David:

David:

Prior to my current profession, I owned a business that washed cars. The best way to get them off is with a MILD degreaser (something as simple as Simple Green would work) and then just saturate the area. When I wash my S2000, I wash from the top down, leaving the front and the wheels LAST! This way, the front has had time to get saturated. Also, the best tip of all is to keep your S2000 (or any car, for that reason) as clean possible! Also, keep a fresh coat of wax on the front of the car! You don't have to wax the entire car, just the front, every 3rd or 4th cleaning!

I have a product called Xenit, it's citrus based and therefore won't harm the paint. I've used it to remove adhesives, and apparently it removes bugs as well.

Field Glaze from Zymol takes bugs right off. It also helps if you have a good coat of wax under the bugs.

Blue Magic - Tar and Bug Remover Gel (blue) from Kragen Auto Parts. Works better than anything else I've tried. Easy wipe on, wipe off. For hard bugs you might have to leave it on a minute before wiping off, No need to bother with any washing and waxing afterwards. It doesn't affect the wax on the car. A perfect product for the job IMO.

Blue Magic is what I use also, works great on bugs, tar, scuff marks, sap, etc. They must push that to us Camarillian.

I feel your pain!...
someone suggested the Mother's clay bar kit...results....
SQUEeeeeeAKY CLEAN..
I've been a believer EVER since!...nuff said

oh yeah, just make sure to wax the area after b/c I would think the clay bar would remove the coat/coats of prior wax...????
Can any detailing gurus CONFIRM this?

or I guess you could STOP driving at NIGHT!!!
or drive with the lights off...
