Leave it in until you decide whether to put in a grill cover. You'll need the OEM grill in place so you can attach the cover to it. I installed the Grillcraft Cover and really like the looks ( http://www.grillcraft.com ).

I'm very pleased with the grill (double layer powder coat) but I've only had it on 10 months and I live in Texas. Are you speaking from personal experience? Maybe you live in the "rustbelt" and exposed your car to winter road salt?
