Rental Car Blues
Uggh.. Took my s2k in this afternoon to have them tighten down the drivers side seatbelt and roll hoop that have been rattling as a result of them doing the seatbelt recall right before I bought the car. I couldnt afford to miss work for as long as it would take them to fix it (which shouldnt be THAT long), so they put me in a rental car.. A Dodge Stratus.
Theres a reason its a dodge people.. Because thats what every other car must do when they see it coming. its got no power, the brakes SUCK and its huge (and handles like a barge)..
woe is me. So, the moral of the story.. never take your s2000 for granted..
Counting the hours before I pick my car up tomorrow.

You have it good!
They cannot seem to get a pressure plate to complete my transmission repair so I have had a rental for TEN days and may have it till next week..
It is an Isuzu Trooper!
Talk about huge, and no handling.. it is dangerous! I hate driving this thing, I just hope I don

ha you think that's bad, i bought my 9-3 in because of a bad heater coil and they gave me an Escort. Luckily I *****ed to the sales manager and they are going to get me a Saab loaner tomorrow.
What really sucks is when the rental car is a gutless automatic! I remember my '88 olds automatic would just about chirp the tires if I gassed it to pass someone! My rental car was a Contour...I gas it and the engine spools up, but it doesn't do anything...it could talk the talk, but not walk....
anyways...
Considering this S2000 to be "honda's top of the line" I'd demand something like a "teg" or "lude"
One word of caution.....NEVER get the car right after someone else has used it! have them clean it, and get all the funky smells out of it! Last rental was the smell of someone's wet kids or dog in the back seat. and it had cigarette and urine smell...I flipped a U turn right in their parkinglot and demanded a car that didn't stink soo much.

How did you get your rental or loaner car?
It took me good effort just to have them get me a rental car for ONE day. They wouldn't give it to me for more than one day if the repair takes longer. That's certainly not what I was promised when I bought the car.

cdelena -- pressure plate? Are they replacing your clutch too? Does it need it or are you just taking the opportunity?
BTW, is there any such thing in the US as a rental car with a manual transmission (other than from small specialty rental places)? I suppose so many Americans don't (and can't) drive stick any more that it's not worth it to have them in a rental fleet. The last time I was able to get a manual from any of the large US rental companies was in 1982.
PS: My daughter has already thanked me profusely several times for making her learn to drive on a 5-speed last spring. I let her drive the S2K the other week (with me as passenger), and in 5 minutes she was doing beautifully. And of course she absolutely loved it.

I had to put my car in the shop last week because of a bad intake temp sensor. Four of the salesmen at the honda dealership own S2000s and started an S2000 clube here in Shreveport so I know them pretty well. they gave me fully loaded 02 4 door accord to drive for the week so it was not too bad but I was glad to get my car back.
