Default To repair top or not?

I'm the second owner of a pristine completely stock 2008 NFR with only 16K miles on the clock! The car was/is perfect except for a L shape tear on the drivers side where the top latch punch through it. It was cause by the elastic strap not being strong enough to pull the rib back out of the way when the top was put down. It has been repaired and doesn't leak water, nor do you notice it until you know its there and then you noticed it all the time. Overall the repair looks good and since I never drive the car except when the top is down I never considered replacing the top.
Now I'm considering selling the car and I'm trying to decide if I should replace the top or just reduce the asking price. Since it is a 2 owner completely stock car with barely 16000 miles on it.

Really? I thought all 2008s came with a reinforced top where the wear marks are. Do you mind taking pics of the top from the inside? Mine has another layer of fabric that runs along the stress points.

If you want top dollar, get it replaced with a Robbin or Sierra aftermarket top (about $550 plus shipping and installation). Trying to sell it as is hints to potential buyers there might be other issues you've chosen not to pay to get fixed right. Just a matter of $$$$$.

Change top yourself with an aftermarket brand top that has a positive reputation. Robbins tops are very positively regarded in this community and I don't think anyone here would be upset to own one. Invest 500 bucks and install the top yourself (its a tedious, but fairly simple job, I've done it myself). Arguably, adds a total value of about 1500 bucks to your car (considering professional installation) and will be a big plus to anyone that is serious about buying the car. Hope this helps.

Initially I thought no, then I saw the mileage. Man, if you want to get top dollar, it would be wise to change it

I have no idea what you are talking about, not sure where the wear marks are, but my top is torn in a "L" shape about 2 inches in each direction. When the top is up, the tear is almost covered by the top latches. From the inside there is a iron on patch that you can't notice and it certainly wouldn't show up on a photo.

My deja vu senses turned on when I was reading OP's post and it was right ...

If you don't fix it, subtract at most $1500. If you fix it, add about $600 to what you were planning to ask.
