Default Replacement Brakes and Rotors

I have a MY01 with stock breaks...I have a tendency to drive a little more spirited then most people and I am looking for a setup that will help me stop better. My problem is I have little to no knowledge on brakes when it comes to this car and I can`t quite find what I am looking for when I search the website so I figured I would post up...I read somewhere that Brembro and AEM make OE Replacement Rotors. Are they any good? or is there a better brand... I am guessing that they fit stock calipers? Anyway my breaks are starting to sweek and I am a firm believer that if you are going to replace something that you should replace it with something better and aftermartket because dealerships are too over priced when it comes to OEM Parts...

I am basically just looking for some opinions on....Replacement Rotors/Break Pads/Break Lines/Fluid..Etc

Thanks alot.....JOHN

B-R-A-K-E.

Since you don't say what it is about the brakes that you find insufficient, there is no way anybody can really give you any useful advice. Except for this: approximately 10% of the topics on this entire site are probably titled "What brakes should I use?" Perhaps you might want to read those.

All the fast track drivers will give you the same advice: "Stick with the OEM pads and rotors for street driving."

Good point Mike I did write the post kind of quick....My car just seems like after I hit a few back roads that the breaks don`t work as well...My brake pedal doesn`t feel as stiff ....Too easy to push in...The stopping power just isn`t there....I was told it is because my pads are not good enough or my rotors get to hot too fast....Thats is why I wanted to know about a different setup..My brakes are on thier way out anyway and I would rather upgrade to something better if I have to replace them...Could it be another problem like the calipers getting to hot or not working properly?-thanks

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this due to air bubbles in the line? Wouldn't flushing them out and replacing with fresh brake fluid be of help?

Replace the Fluid, fit braided lines and fast road pads if you want more than that then some grooved disc's too.

you need to know that the S2000 has very good brakes, and if yours it not, then correct it. I drive my car very hard at the track 10-15 times a years. I am using a stock brake system, upgraded pads, steel braid lines and change my fluid every 6 months. My system has faded only once after 3 back to back sessions, or about 50 mons on the track.

Flush out the old brake fluid, change the pad to fresh one and call it a day.

ATE Super Blue brake fluid is a great race-proven formula. I use that in my car and many of the clients I work with.

Motul RBF600 is another good one.

Stock pads are prefered, as most others will dust more and squeek.

Rotors arent gonna get you much as far as performance. Bling maybe, but not performane.

The braided lines are a good suggestion as well.

Good Luck,
Hockey

I just ordered a bunch of new parts for my brakes, so I'll know how that goes in a few weeks... From what I've learned though is that with the stuff I got I should be really well off. I got:

1) Hawk HPS pads
2) Stoptech brake lines
3) Cobalt OEM replacement rotors (don't care for bling of slotted or drilled)
4) Super ATE blue fluid.

All of these together should change the feel as well as performance of the already incredible brake system on the S. I'll keep you posted if youre interested.

Just out of curiousity...how are the Stopteck BBK compared to other name brands ..ie: Wilwood, Brembo (very costly!). Is it just for good looks, or are these functional in everyday driving..no track scenarios. Thanks.
