Default Replacement key and fob, how much?

How much would a replacement key and fob run for my S? I bought a used one and it only came with one set.

The key is like $35.

You then need to fork over money to program it. It is usually 0.5-1.0 hours labor at that dealer's rate. All in all, it should be $100 max.

the fobs can be bought in ebay for chump change.

I just got a key from honda the other day. $35 for the key, $80 for the fob. The parts lady cut and programmed the key for free. I just showed her the VIN and she was able to cut the key directly from that. Then I gave her the key I had which she used to program the new key.

The is an AP1, apparently some of the newer cars use laser cut keys which she said were over $100.

I asked my dealer once. The AP2 key with the S2000 logo on it costs 195, the regular Honda keys costs 65. The programming job (for the immobilizer/ECU) costs 95.

What a rip eh?

Sorry to awake an old thread, but didn't find the need to start a new one for just one related question:

Do AP2's have laser cut keys?

Weird, I was under the impression that the "code" on the transponder/chip in the key does not change. I was under the impression that the ECU/PCM was simply made to recognize/acknowledge the permanent code on the transponder in the key. In other words I thought the ECU was programmed, not the key.
