Default Replacing the convertible top

What are the options for replacing the plastic rear window with a glass one on a 2001 model. I would imagine that one would have to replace the entire convertible top and in this case, would a 2003 fit a 2001 model? Any insight would be much appreciated. TIA.

I have a silver 2001 S that is on it's second top. The first top had a tiny tear (after a year and a half) so a new one was installed under warranty. I asked about getting the glass one instead and they wouldn't do it because it was warranty. I have since decided that I would rather have the larger plastic window. Have you compared the size of the two windows? The glass one is smaller. It's hard enough to see backing up with the size of the plastic one. Now if you get the hard top (I have one), it has a huge glass window and is very easy to see out of!

I happen to have both tops in my possession. The glass window is smaller (27" top, 34" bottom widths) vs. the plastic (29" approx, 34" bottom widths). The glass is narrower in height since it doesn't fold (9.5" vs. 14.5" plastic), and sits higher off the rear deck (6" vs 4.5"). Since the maximal width of the glass window is higher off the ground, you should have a slightly wider field of view with the glass window for all but the lowest objects. Similarly, unless you were being pursued by an ultralight or a helicopter, you wouldn't miss the taller window. I think the best part of owning a glass window is the low maintenence, the clear view, and being able to defrost it.
