replacing drive shaft
Im going to replace the propeller shaft but have been doing some reading on the site that the 6mm hex box are not easy to deal with. Has anyone figured out a good to remove these. I dont have very many resources such as dremel or heat.
One time we pounded in a torx bit then used a wrench to twist on the bit. The bolts were originally put on by the dealership who torqed the crap out of the bolts. If the bolts have not been removed previously then chances are the factory did not over tighten.
Does the driveshaft have to be aligned when you put it on? or can it go in any way (as long as the front and back are in the correct directions)
I ask because on the clutch install DIY, it mentions for you to mark the driveshaft position (in relation to the tranny and diff), what happens when you put on a new driveshaft (not from your car)
anyone know where to get new hex bolts.....local dealer in LA said 4.50 a piece...can i get them cheaper anywhere else. I just want to have them on hand in case the old ones get damaged when i pull the shaft out

I used a 1/2" drive 6mm hex socket attached to a breaker bar, and gave so good hits (instant torque rather then constant torque) which helped to break a few of them loose. I think I first tried using a allen key
and stripped one or two of the bolts, then went out and bought the socket. So needless to say my method worked at successuflly removing 3 of the bolts, the other three I had to dremel out of there.
If you have access to air, try using that first, turn the pressure up to 120-150 if you can and use a strong socket. I think if you did that, you'd have an easy time. If you can't, try doing what I did and you may get lucky. Otherwise have fun with a dremel or drill...
BTW, just buy 6 new bolts from your dealer, you are going to need to replace them...and their price isn't bad, here is a link to a site with cheap OEM parts, and those bolts are $2.20 there, but you'll also need to pay some shipping, and you really aren't saving much money
