Default replacing rear turn signal bulb

so I had one of my rear turn signals go out on me... I dunno when but my roommate pointed it out last night.

anyway... so today I headed over to the local Napa, and tried to buy replacements. Figured I'd get the hyper white ones, just to match the side marker 194's I put in, cause they're the hyper white.

So the dude looks 'em up in the computer, tells me the size: 1156.

so I buy the bulbs, and head out into the parking lot to change them only to realize that the stock blubs ARE NOT 1156's. Well, they are, but they're not.

the 1156 is the correct size. Everything down to the T, except for the small lock tabs. On the replacements, the lock tabs are directly apart from each other, 180 degrees apart. On the stock ones, the lock tabs are staggered, a few degrees closer to each other. The socket is staggered to allow fitment of the stock bulbs.

So I head back into Napa, and he tells me that they dont have any bulbs with staggered lock tabs, and that I'll have to go to the dealer to get them.

Well I dont want to go to the dealer and pay like, seven million dollars for a ****ing light bulb. Especially considering that I'm not all that interested in having amber replacements, as I'd prefer the white ones.

Anyone know what the **** is up with this shit, or where I can find the hyper white replacements?

Go up to a parking block, and shave one of the locking tabs off. It only takes about 5-6 scrapes back and forth. That's how I got my hyper whites in.

haha, kinda ghetto but I guess it works.

so what happens if I didn't want to do that, and just wanted to replace the stock ones? That means I have to go to the dealer? that'd be pretty freakin gay of Honda to do...
