did you get a rental because you also have the Extended Warranty(which I have) or as an act of good faith...?

Oh by the way COOL!

Yea, I have a high VIN# (8***) and I have never had a grind (never drove it that hard though). I do have a clunk when I go into 2nd and sometimes into 1st. I thought the tranny would be smoother by now (got 2500 miles on it). I also have the rattling box of marbles sound, too. So the big question...should I take it in?

I have no idea if or when these changes were put into production. I would have guessed at the model change over, but it does seem that the higher VINs have a smaller incidence of grinds (but of course that could be temperature related.. the later VINs showed up as the temps cooled).

As far as taking your car in.. I would do it when you don

The only thing i can compare it to is my old CRX Si...it had the same 'bucket o' bolts' sound - but, at the time I was told it was the heat shield (name?)...so I really don't know what to think...might have it checked out when i get an oil change....

unfortunately... while I have pretty intermittant grind... "if your driveline sounds like a bucket of bolts " sounds all too familiar!!

I get a grind sometimes...I'm still up for the recall right? I'm not sure if it's me being a crappy driver or the syncros...they should take care of me either way, right? Since it's an official recall?

Glad to hear your problem has been fixed, Chris! Isn't this one of the reasons Hondas are supposed to hold their value - that they stand behind their product?

After someone mentioned going for the extended warranty (TFota?), I have decided to purchase this myself. I'm getting the "drivetrain only" package, but believe it well worthwhile, just in case of the dreaded "grind" problem others are experiencing.

Since the TSB is for an intermittent problem they should fix it either way. It has only happened to me a couple of times and I am dropping the car off this morning for the fix. No hassles from the dealer. Now to see if I get a loaner car. (I do not have extended warranty coverage.)
