reprogram EPS?
greetings,
do you know if our power steering can be programmed (since it is "electronic power steering") so that at low speed, it is bit more stiffer? it is speed variation and not rpm variation, right? i would love to have 1.4 lock-to-lock instead of our 2.4 that they have on Type-V in japanese market.

Dohoon,
I took a quick peek into the service manual. From what I can tell, the EPS seems to take input from the tach and speedo. There's also a torque sensor (measuring steering wheel torque??). Anyway, this leads me to believe that the boost levels are probably modifiable in the EPS Control Unit.
However, I don't know about any electronic way to change turns to lock... To do that, I suspect you'd have to change the pinion gear. The system isn't drive by wire, so I think you'd have to make physical mods to the pinion (or the rack) to do this.
Best wishes. (p.s./ the gearheads in Under Hood forum might have more to offer
