Did you checkout the headlight test on the HID thread - now that was someone with tooooo much time on their hands - not being rude either, I certainly did appreciate the information since I want to upgrade my headlights. This forum is great, a little bit of everything for everyone.
The purpose of an oil analysis like this is to look for degredation/depletion of elements. As far as "normal" the magnesium level looks very high to me (Mg++). While the Molybdenum looks very low. Of course one can't tell for sure as you have no control sample. To do this analysis properly you need to submit a pre and post use sample and compare the values. Additionally I noticed no mention of a "patch test" or hard particle count? Might want to try Blackstone Laboratories next time......
Gee... the last time I had a canister with a replaceable filter for engine oil was... on my Dads 53' chevy truck with a 265ci V8 and a toilet paper roll as the element! The engine did not originaly come in the truck ... nor with an oil filter (as I recall), it was added later. It was replaced by a Hi_po 327, and then eventually (by me) a 65' Caddie 429ci V8.
Other than that I find the report interesting, but have no clue what it would mean... at least you did not find and evidence of decay of the FRM cylinder liners...

one question,
Does the car use any oil?
Some people complained of excessive oil consumption and one of the possible causes was thought to be incomplete piston ring break in. Switching to synthetic oil too soon might be the root cause methinks.
Any thoughts?

Very interesting!!!
Thanks for the info,
Siepel
PS
Anybody has a similar report from transmission oil? That's what really would be interesting!! Especially from a Volkswagen Polo manual transmission to be completely honest... (don't ask). But I guess a 'normal' spec sheet from a S2000 would be usefull as well!

The same service I used from Titan Labs to test my engine oil can be used to test transmission oil.
Here is Titan's link:

Results of second oil analysis are in and I have edited my original post at top to include these latest results.
Note that the first test was on Mobil 1 10W-30 and the second test was on Red Line 10W-30.
If the chemists out there have any comments on the results, I would be very interested to hear them!
