Default Rev Limiter Cutting out at 7K in 2nd

Over the last couple of days I've noticed that when in 2nd gear if I try to take the car from a lower RPM to redline the revlimiter will kill the car at 7k. It does not do it if I heavliy accelerate from 0 to whatever. Just wondering if this is normal or if I should be alarmed.

If only the car came with something like a book that described the features and operational details of the car. I'd call it "The Owner's Manual" and within its pages would be all the import information an owner might need.

But, I'm a dreamer...

YEah, what Mac said. If you don't have 3 bars on the temp guage the car will not vtech and thus the rev limiter will bump off at about 6500.

Thanks, I've been working 60+ hours a week since I got the car so doing something besides just skiming the owners manual is only a dream, mabye over the holidays I will have a chance to read cover to cover. But I guess the 3 bars thing makes since.

why would you redline a car with a cold engine anyway unless you want to do serious damamge? A warm engine is a happy engine

There is probably one of these threads that pop up every two weeks. I can just imagine them constantly bouncing the rpm off the rev limiter while trying to figure out what is happening. Too funny. Their motors are probably crying for mercy.
