Thumbs up Rev limiter Poll

I discovered the rev limiter today. I was zipping around someone in 2nd, and bounced right into it, kind of worried me. How often do you other S2000 owners hit it? I would guess that it's safe to hit it now and again, but does anyone do it regularly and not have issues.

Sorry about the poll but I started to post this and thought it was a perfect poll question

Isn't the rev limiter designed to provide reasonable safety from any sort of engine damage?

That is it's purpose, is it not?

I hit it twice the weekend after I bought the car. Took a little time to get used to the tach and the car revs fast. Plus I was out of practice. I didn't drive my RSX or Prelude hard, there was no point.

I've had the car for a few months and haven't hit it since.

i actually try to hit it more often even though the i still feel like im breaking the car when reving that high. when at the track, i hit it constantly with no problem. i say dont worry about it, it's there for a reason.

Not good for your lap times to be banging the rev limiter.

I have hit my rev limiter less than ten times during the last three years I have owned this car. The first 2-3 times I hit the limiter, I learned how high I could rev the engine before the limiter kicks in, thus allowing me to quickly shift within 50-100 rpm's of the limiter engaging.

If your really good, you should be able to go up through the gears, have the red bars flash for about 3-4/10th's of a second each time just before quickly shifting into the next gear without the limiter coming on all the way up the the gears.
