Isn't the rev limiter designed to provide reasonable safety from any sort of engine damage?
That is it's purpose, is it not?

Another question about this is can the dealer tell if you've over revved the car? Is there a black box. or does the ECU keep a rev limiter count? I've heard about warrenty claims being denied based on owner abuse. Is this how they tell?
Last weekend at a S2000 autocross, I hit the limiter probably 50 times due to one particular corner where it was faster to sit on the limiter than upshift and immediately downshift mid-corner.
Hitting the limiter does not cause any measurable engine damage.

With the Modifry Shifter Beeper => never!
Beep - beep - beep - beeeeeep (and shift)

It's more like BeeBAM in first gear.
These fast revving boosted engines are so much fun.
Haven't hit it yet. Still babying the car I guess. I did hit the rev limiter on my old Bimmer a couple of times. It's not terribly bad for the car, but I can't imagine it's good for it either.
i accidently voted 'multiple times daily' since i thought it was a redline poll. for me, it's actually once every few months.
usually what will happen is that i'm merging onto the highway w/some traffic, holding it in 2nd gear, then when i can finally change lanes i'll gun it -- but having slowly accelerated while waiting (paying attention to traffic and not mph), i hit the limiter right away.

[QUOTE]The Modifry Shift Beeper is a great addition but even with it spread 300 rpm between beeps I end up hitting the limiter. The 1200 rpm interval goes by in a tiny fraction of a second.

I put down once a year only because I rarely, rarely hit it. I got the car in April and I've only hit it like twice. Once cause I was trying to get around some annoying traffic and hit cause I wasn't looking and the other was last night at the track... I got a little excited... hehehehehehehehhehe... lol
