lol i guess push up it is.

I just had all my fluids change 2000 miles ago. i think it would be much easier if reverse was all the way to the left rather to the right.

A few good strategies for you, for starters don't be going forward. If you put the car in reverse while the car is moving forward, even at 2mph, it is significantly harder (or so I've noticed). Anyway here are my strategies for really throwing it in to reverse at a time of need:

1. Pretend the car has been a 'bad girl' and it is time for it to receive punishment. Make sure you alarm the car of this as you put it in reverse. I also advise using a slightly deeper, breathier voice than normal.

2. Throw it in to reverse as you put your right arm behind the drivers seat and turn your entire body a full 180* Imagine you are in a large pickup truck about to back out of your driveway precariously over your family's pet dog. I'd suggest some hay to chew on during the process and a briskly faster than average backup speed.

3. Aim forward at the spot you wish to back in or out of. From this position you will take off as fast as you can in first gear and turn as hard as you can either left or right. As you let the car oversteer immensely, be careful to stop applying gas when the vehicle has turned 180* The trick is to keep your forward momentum, so being as frictionless and quick in the turn as possible is advised. It is also highly recommended that you remove the car from any gear as soon as you regain your momentum with your car facing the opposite direction. Apply brakes as needed after the maneuver.

I must be doing something wrong...I've never had trouble engaging reverse in my car.

I think all S2000's have this problem. Just try putting into another gear first, then going to reverse.
Right. I have found with my fussy reverse gear that proper clutch pedal position coupled with the appropriate amount of pressure placed pushing the shift knob down while pulling the shifter into gear is the answer to the equation. Finding the right combo consistently is the key.

Hehe at first I was thinking at how I never had any problems with my reverse gear, but after reading the comments, its probably because I park my car in first (thus having the gears all lined up).

thats what does it

Has anyone ever done the service bulletin? If so did it make the problem completely go away or just makes it a bit less difficult? Got my car checked out today and asked them about it and they want $229 to do the job. Guy that was working on my car told me it'll take about 3 hours to do because he needs to remove the center console. Which I didn't believe because there are instructions on Rick's and it seems pretty straight forward, fast and easy. Maybe I can remove the console myself and just have them take the shifter out and lube it.
