I know it's quick and easy to remove t he center console. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because they say not many S2000 goes there for service and the tech has never removed the console on a S before.

Never once have I had an issue in 9 years and over 100k miles. I do change my tranny fluid twice annually "honda mtf" so maybe that helps

Hehe at first I was thinking at how I never had any problems with my reverse gear, but after reading the comments, its probably because I park my car in first (thus having the gears all lined up).
Well, yeah, but so does everyone else. When parking a car with a manual transmission one leaves it in gear. Either in first or in reverse. To do otherwise can be a mistake. Anyone remember all the posts about S2000's rolling away? Haven't seen one of those in a while.

Seem to be isolated cases. I still want to know if the service bulletin will completely fix it.

[QUOTE=Tuan85,May 11 2009, 10:43 PM] today while i was out driving i got really frustrated that i cant get into REVERSE. I push the knob down, even while i was parked trying to push it down with 2 hand it wont go down. All my attempt failed with the car going into 6 gear instead.

There are days that reverse would be so easy to get into and there is today where i couldn't get into reverse to save my life.

i think it would be much easier if reverse was all the way to the left rather to the right.
WTF? This car was not built in Germany....

That is the biggest pain in the ass placement for reverse. Go drive a BMW - it is a horible location.

Also, BMW's design is dangerous. It's possible to accidentally shift into reverse when you mean to shift to first if you are shifting too hard. And similarily, if you don't shove the shifter hard enough, you might end up shifting to first rather than reverse.

I like how the S2000 needs you to push the shifter down, and places the reverse near 6th gear.

The NC Miata has reverse next to 1st. You have to push down and then go into gear just like you have to push down on the S. IMO it's better because it's faster to get from reverse to 1st and vice versa. Not dangerous at all and I have never shifted into reverse by accident.
