My S2000 weights 2810lb from the factory and I love it.
I do not need reverse sensing mirror, fancy audio, power seats, auto dimming mirror nor heated seat.

I rather take 2800lbs s2000 over 3000lbs S2000, even if it means I have to give up a few amenities.

basically what we are talking about is when you put it in reverse the computer is smart enough to realize that. it then rotates the passenger side mirror downward so you can see the curb.

it is a good thing we don't have this. it is easily a 700 lb mod.

My LS430 has those mirrors, so I can see the use for them. On a car that big, they are needed. I have never missed that feature on my S, however- the car is small enough that I can very easily gauge where I am relative to the curb.

About the only feature I miss is a digital thermometer, so that I can tell how much traction I have.

Those mirrors are tight. When I was test driving the 330c it had those, and even though you do look over your shoulder it made going in straight a sinch!

On the S2000 it is overkill, on my 850i it's darn near impossible to park the darn thing without them.

But several BMW owners over the years have found that they fail after a given amount of time and are rather expensive to fix, now I know that we all drive honda's but I love my S2000 because I will never need to fix things like this down the road. No adjustable pedals, or power seats for me.

Storm,
who spent a little over 3 hours fixing the power seats on his 850 so he could deliver it to it's new owner.

Did I miss something?? Don't all of us drive a little two seater that the top comes down on?? Can't you just put the top down and look over your shoulder?? Why would you want to mess up a perfect little roadster with all that fancy stuff that breaks? I was interested in the S because it is simple (no frills). If I needed all those things I would have bought one of those German convertible cars that you can spend $40k+ on and still not get a car as good as an S.

My .02.

Wow talkinga bout blowing up the subject. Look, all he asked was if anybody ever put this function into their S. He didnt say he wanted 3 cupholders and all that mumbo jumbo.. hes merely asking a question. How does this even effect it as being a sports car? What a electronic motor that adds maybe 3 lbs? Why not strip the paint while your at it if you wanna save weight so bad. He also said he can reverse fine WITHOUT it, this just helps him prevent any mishaps with the curb. Jeez give the guy a break
