Same here. I really wish Honda made 6th gear for more relaxed driving, like a true overdrive gear in other Honda's. Maybe they just need a 7th gear?

Don't forget that 4K is less than halfway to redline...equivalent to say 2.5k in less "capable" engines.

I think your tach reads a little to high or you might be mistaken. You should be running closer to 3000rpm in 6th gear at 56mph.

Regardless of what RPM level it's at, my S feels fine at highway speed. It certainly doesn't feel like it is working harder than it should.

I seem to remember that 6th gear gives like 18.9 mph/ 1000rpm. 4k should be around 75 mph in 6th. Are you sure you were in 6th? 4K@56 mph sounds about right for 4th gear.

I think that 3000 rpm = about 50-55 mph and 4000 rpm = about 75 mph.

My problem is that here on eastern Long Island, the LIE / Sunrise hwy, traffic typically flows at 70-75 mph +. In fact their are many times when minivans, SUV's and commercial vehicles blow by me at 80++ mph. I can easily cruise inconspicuously at 85+ mph.

I too think that a true overdrive, 7th gear, would be a good idea. I find myself NOT using 5th gear very often, I typically skip from 4th directly to 6th unless I am accelerating hard.

Looks like I'm not the only one reaching for that imaginary 7-th gear.
Of course all I got was neutral.

Just don't go for that imaginary 8th gear or you might get reverse.
