Doesn't your leather mount also duplicate the same function as the black plastic visor clip that comes with the Valentine One? Except yours is leather/$ and the plastic one is free.

Well fellas the pointing should not have too much affect on the unit, unless the beamwidth of the unit is so extremely narrow in elevation that this angle should hurt. Secondly radar would not be affected by not being able to "see" out the back window, Laser is another story though.

Aesthetically, I am not too keen on the look. It reminds me of something you would buy at K-Mart, not in keeping with the quality of products from Rick's.

No, the visor's tension is plenty strong to take the weight of a detector:

It's an interesting comcept, I've made one very similar to it but I was unhappy with it's location there from a driving aspect. Instead, using an acylic block and industrial velcro i created a dash mount that sits just left of center and is easily removed when I park, The rear vision field still seems to be open for detection top up or down and it's easy running the network cable invisible along the window. I run a passport 8500 with the lidar pkg and it works very well.

Have you considered building them on a custom stitch to order with the detector, sleeved into your visor covers with a front and rear opening? that was my plan b but i couldn't come up with an easy way to remove it that would stand the elements..

I did however, when I copied your visor cover put a map pocket in mine that you can't see without lookng hard. I'm not competition to you, I'm in the clothing biz so i have access to designers and heavy duty machines...

good luck it's a great idea

regards

I have always wondered for the folks who need to be able to hide their detectors. How complex would it be to open it up, and take all the electronics out of the shell, and install the various parts in different places. For example, mount the display somewhere in the dash, forward reading sensor in front of the review mirror, rear sensor pointing out the back of the secrete compartment along w/circuit board, on off switch in center console. I have not looked inside one, if all the components are connected by soldered wires, couldn't you just unsolder them, run longer wires behind panels to keep a clean look? If this is possible I may go buy a $60 cheapy, open it up and play......possible?
Thanks,
Steve

Jim Powell from the BMW board had created an ingenious stealth V1 conceal display. He took the stock BMW rear mirror and planted the conceal display inside. He even sold these to other members on the board. Here is the page on how to make one.
If the s2k mirror is thick enough, we could do the same.

Those are my visors, thank you! I agree they look crappy, but they are soon to be removed altogether once my custom windshield rail arrives from Texas with Street Pilot III screen and V1 mounted in it. Then I will have no visors

Damned right, xviper! If you've taken the visor apart, you know it could withstand a direct nuclear strike

Rick any chance in making a pod like I suggested to conceal and mount the V1 unit itself?
