Rim Job
I once had a Dodge Daytona (long time ago....Horrible car...nothing but problems) anyway...I had the car painted Calypso Green (Ford Color.. early 90's color) anyway I had them paint the insides of the rims that color too... to match the car. Boy did I get teased...."add some fringe and carpet to the dash" etc...etc....
The paint did eventually start to chip off.
Anyone got an extra '02 stock rim they want to sell cheap? I think I might just move beyond Photoshop and try it.
To those familiar with powdercoating, just how long would you expect something like this to last before it chipped into ugliness?

powdercoating my oem wheels was $50 each, plus $25 each to clearcoat them. the clearcoat is just like any other, where it's a layer of protection. the clearcoat does give it a little more gloss though. the color i got (charcoal gray), had no gloss at all, but you can see the way it looks here:
Good advice moyopoyo. Beautiful S2K, btw.
Luder, here's a quickie on an inverse. The glare probably gave it too much gloss but for realism I left it more translucent to retain the lighting detail.

This one's a bit flatter.

i like the first one!
Bash,
Thanks. I'm not sure if I like the inverted way....although I'm sure it'd look very trick while the wheel was spinning.
I may get my OEM's powder coated the way you doctored the first pic, on the left. BTW, my S2K is black, so I think it may look very bad ass.
The other thought is probably to powdercoat the first pattern but with the Mugen bronze finish instead of black. Thoughts?

I am getting mine done a gunmetal/mica color with clearcoat. With a little luck they should be on the car in about three weeks. I will post pics then.
moyopoyo,
your car looks bad ass with this look.

Luder,
Ya, the inverted one calls too much attention to the holes rather than the spokes, imo. Still, sorta interesting but maybe too much attention to the alteration. I wanted it to appear as though nothing has occured except some *weight* loss. I'm still fence-sitting (a bit too poor) to commit my only set of rims just yet but I would really be interested in seeing what you come up with, Luder, if you go ahead and get them powdercoated. Mine is black/black too and I believe our cars are a bit more forgiving with shadow manipulation. I don't know about bronze but I'm old school and still a bit too wedded to silver.
