My bud mentioned this last night to me, saying that he heard it during his VTEC runs, and this morning I took a quiet route and tested my car out, sure enough, my car does the same thing. Anyone else noticed a keychain rattle type (very faint, but noticeable) rining sound in and around that RPM range?

Mingster- I absolutely have that sound. I first noticed it around 1k miles. It sounds a little bit like slightly muted, high-pitched bells. Your guess is as good as mine...Anyone else have a clue. BTW I do not have the 1-2 grind if that makes it any easier to diagnose.

Mine was fixed, along with the seat belt and the clutch. So the noise must be a natural part of the tranny? it sounds almost exactly the same as when I decelerate (before the clutch fix) at 4K RPMs you'd hear this VERY distinct bell ringing sounds. I still have that 4K rining sound, BTW, but it's very much muted now.

Same thing here, sounds like my keys jingling really fast and it gives the impression that it's coming straight from the knob.

Mingster,

The only ringing I hear is from my differential, and the only time I hear it is when I make u turns. Maybe we should compare our cars this weekend when I come pick up the aeroscreen.

Hey Mingster,

You have mail.

By the way, I'm not sure if this ringing is normal or not, at least not from the differential. Pinky started a thread a while back complaining about bad differentials and the ringing might be a symptom. Not sure if it is or not. For my sake, I hope it's not.

Here's the thread.

Tingle, tingle, tingle........

Richard.....I have this on my car as well. I don't like it at all. It gets progressively louder as the revs approach 9K. It definitely sounds like it's coming from the engine and not the differential. I have a Team Voodoo shift knob, so it's not that.

I'm taking my car in on Monday due to the rusting upper and lower A arms (different post on the forum about this) and I'll ask them about it.

Cheers,

Hi, Mingster!

The sound is definitely coming from the engine bay... and it is more noticable if you are sitting in the passenger seat. All the descriptions that I have heard so far seem to fit what I have been experiencing...

Surely more ppl can report on this phenomenon?
