Rio Yellow...
I have taken my car to 2 local pretty well known body shops and both have told me the exact same thing... "this 3 stage pearl yellow is the hardest paint color to match, much harder than even pearl white".
They have insisted they wouldnt paint just one panel and fully gaurantee a "perfect" match. They said hte only way is to blend the whole side of the car. Painting just one piece would be nearly impossible to match perfectly.
I knew yellow would be hard, but this hard???

When I got out of college I worked for a rental car company and my desk was inside a busy body shop. I learned a LOT in the ~1 year I was there.
One of the things that the employees all said is that yellow (of any variety) was always one of the hardest colors to match.

I've had the back bumper of my '06 Rio hit five times so far. I guess the yellow attracts them like moths to a flame.
My regular body shop has finally figured out how to match the color on my car perfectly and they might be willing to tell you how if you give them a call:

They have never even attempted to blend or paint the whole side of the car. They've matched individual pieces perfectly, and the color looks great in full sunlight or shadow, from straight on or at an angle.

How far off was the shade when you got it painted the first couple of time? pretty noticeable?
The first time was by a different shop. They used PPG paints and got a pretty close match right off.
The second time was by Artcraft. They use Martin Senour paints and the Martin Senour official recipe was way off and almost brown with a very cloudy look to the metallics and pearl coat. After working with it for most of a week and getting a Martin Senour rep to come help out, they managed to get a nice match from experimentation.
The third time, I went back to the original shop, who matched it pretty closely, though not perfectly.
The fourth time, I came back to Artcraft. Apparently there had been a number of emails between the shop and Martin Senour about the official recipes being off and how I went to a different shop rather than go through it again. Martin Senour managed to come up with a handful of other apparently secret recipes and Artcraft did test sprays on cards until they found one that was very, very close.
After adding three drops of black per pint of one of the new recipes, they matched my car as perfectly as I'm able to judge and, just to get on my good side, they also resprayed some of the other parts on my car whose color from the factory didn't match the body color. And they buffed the top of the windshield frame where I'd removed the trim tape and discovered rough paint.
Now that they finally have a completely perfect color match for my car, I have no problem recommending them for other Rio Yellow Pearl owners. Their bodywork has always been excellent and for any other color car, the Atlanta S2K club has recommended them to new S2000 owners for a long time.
Now we can recommend them to Rio owners as well

So I'll do it the safe way for now. I will post pics when its complete.
The shops I've talked to have all said that the problem with blending on Rio Yellow Pearl is the fact that the pearl coat is thick and clear enough that blending over it can leave visible edges where the old pearl coat goes under the new color coat.
