Roll Bar Extension available for S2K?
My friend runs with a roll bar in the street not very smart friend though. He says sometimes when he encounter a bump on the road he would hit his head. He said it really hurts and sometimes he wishes he doesn't have it there but it there permanent.
People change roll bars/install cages and try to convince themself they are safer when if fact they can be signiciantly less safe than before as you're far more likely to be T-boned than you are to roll your car.
Any metal within 6-8" of your head should be avoided if you're not going to wear a helmet -and- cover with high density foam.
I'd say a bar like the elda will be ok because it'd not any farther forward than the stock hoops, but anyone that has a cage on a street car and drives without a helmet is a retard. Or atleast is at high risk of making themself retarded from head injuries.

just thought i'd chime in with a (long) personal story.
i've owned several miatas over the years. i started getting a funny feeling about the last one after hearing some wrong-side up convertible. the miata relies on the A pillar and windshield header to provide protection. this isn't much metal, so i installed a hard dog roll bar with diagonals. it's a really well-built bar with great mounting points and very simple lines.
my confidence went up and i was a happy camper. a few months later i had the unfortunate opportunity to meet up with a 18 wheel fuel tanker truck on the beltway. he decided to change to the right lane, just as i was merging onto the beltway from an onramp. this was near the mixing bowl and there are concrete barriers instead of breakdown lanes there. the driver didn't see me... he didn't even FEEL me as his tractor crushed my miata up against the barriers at 35 mph. the only way he became aware of my presence was the fact that his steering wheel wouldn't turn to the right. the contact point was at my driver's door and back on the 1/4 panel. needless to say, my little 2300 lb car was squished pretty good, but the roll bar "helped" keep the passenger space in pretty good shape. btw- it's a good thing that i was driving a 'vert because i was able to pry the top open and exit the vehicle... the doors were toast.
i don't think that the roll bar saved my life but it probably helped keep me free from harm and injury. if i had been unfortunate and had the car roll over or, even worse, been rolled over by the trailer, i like to think that the bar would have given me a small chance at survival.
i'm not sure that a roll bar is needed/advisable for the S, but I KNOW that it sure is for the miata.
drive with your head, not on it.
