roll bars
Hi all,
I'm a new member--just purchased my first S2000 (used 2001 model with 12,000 miles)--have a question for anyone who can answer...what's the story on the roll bars? I can't find any info in the owner' manual, and specifically want to know as much info as possible. Thanks. NYC

Maybe you could be a little more specific.....There is metal in the rollbars and they work unless you're tall enough that your head is above them. The Windshield frame is also reinforced for roll protection.
Strike--Thanks. I was specifically wondering what to do if tall enough that head is above the rollbars. Your reply suggests that they do not "pop up" further in a crash--is that right? Thanks, NYC
haha, i like that....have you ever heard of Centripetal Acceleration? In a rollover the force of the car spinning will attempt to throw you out the top, so even if your head is well below the bar sitting upright you may still be very unhappy when your head hits the ground in a rollover. the Seatbelt will keep you from going forward, but wont keep you from going up(or in this case, down) as well. My advice: don't roll.

Don't get a racing harness if you're taller than the stock hoops!! With the stock seatbelts you've got some flexibility to keep your head below the top of the hoops. With a harness your head will be kept at whatever height it sits at normally without the possibility of coming down below the hoops. Also, as others have said, don't roll. If you are really concerned about rolling and are taller than the hoops consider an aftermarket rollbar.
