Rolling up windows - aero benefit?
This past weekend I was driving on 66 (Front Royal, VA) and I hit an empty stretch on the highway, no cars for a while. So I start cruising at 100MPH with the top down.
The noise was a bit much to carry a conversation, so I roll up the windows. All of a sudden ... I gain 10MPH in speed! As the windows were going up I definitely felt a surge in speed. I swear I did not give more gas; the car just rolled faster.
I am imagining things? I have not been able to reproduce the effect (not too many opportunities to get to highspeeds during the week).
