I thought rotella T6 is approved for use in gasoline engines, as it has the API SM seal...

It would be fine to use in the S2000. But here in the States Mobil 1 is cheaper per quart so most people go that route.

Our local WalMart usually has Rotella T6 for about $20/gallon. Is that more than Mobil 1?

Yes. My local WalMart has Mobil 1 for $21.99 for 5 quarts (1.25 gal)

Castrol Syntec is even cheaper

Thanks jlude, I'm putting RTS in my 4runner soon. I prob use these on my s2k too (whenever I finish leftover amsoil in my garage). It will be a lot easier for me to using same oil brand/weights on both of cars.

Local my walmart price...
RTS T6 -20
Mobil fully syn - 25~26?
Mobil 1 (gold cap)- 28 I believe.

Local autopart store had special on castrol edge with mobil 1 filter. 5qt + mobil 1 filter for 32 bucks(included tax)

Wow. what state is that? Mobil 1 is still $21-23 for the 5-quart container depending on if it's on special or not here at Walmarts. I believe the T6 is around $19-20 per gallon

It's probably because you are in a major metro area. I'm over 60 miles from the closest major metro area...gas is only $2.45 for 87 octane here right now.

Rotella comes in 5 quart containers?
