Default Rubber Door gasket Ripping

I was wondering if anyone else notices that the small rubber gasket (passenger and driver side) around the door occasionally rips?

I had this replaced by the dealer before when the car was under warranty and now the second time it is ripping again.

The red lines indicate the area where my previous gasket ripped to.

I know its really nothing big but these small things really bother me (I know I'm a wierdo). Did anyone just cut that small thin section off?

i always dress my all rubber seals(door, trunk, top, hood) with rubber and vinyl protection to prevent the seals from drying or cracking.

Not sure, need to check mine later to see if it's doing the same thing.

There are rubber repair products (rubber adhesive, liquid rubber, silicone adhesive etc.) Should be an easy repair and everyone with a convertable should carry a tube of this stuff in the trunk in case of emergencys on top of maintaince repairs.

My drivers side has ripped. Others here think it's a common problem.. I'm not worried, nor have I repaired it.

I wonder if it is caused from the rubber drying out, like 2slow2Bfurious mentions. None the less, I will also use my silicone protectant on this section as well.

I just noticed both the driver and passenger side of mine are doing the same thing. I keep my car garaged and keep 303 or shin etsu on the seals. I think it may be a poor design flaw. It seems that the windows rolling up and down seem to cause too much stress on it.
