Default running with air box lid off

I have a question for those of you who would know (because I don't).

While I know running with the stock air box lid off has been shown to potentially lose small amounts of horsepower, is there any other negative aspect to it? I am aware of the claims of less dense air reaching the engine, etc., but is there anything inherently bad about doing this?

Keep in mind I'm not asking about the engine possibly overheating. I'm aware of the possibility.

I'm just wondering if there is any small damage that can be done in the engine through doing this.

This has also been discussed many many times. Yes, you can run with the airbox lid off and it will not harm anything. You will just have slightly higher intake temps.

You got droning sound when idling though.... which is annoying IMO.

You'll get slightly bogged feeling when rolling from stand still.

Once you're rolling, it's not a big deal.

Just get the K&N FIPK, its worth it. I went through the same thing about removing my lid, went with the K&N and never regretted it.

Your aware of the possibility of the engine overheating because your running your airbox without a lid? Are you serious?........

I think if your having overheating problems its not caused by running your airbox without a lid.
