if you run w/o a lid, it will attract rodents into the air box and they will make their nest there.. I heard they like the sound of Vtec..

If you run without a lid, you'll be 3% faster. Its proven.

Seriously though, no harm comes from it. The lid muffles sound, so you'll hear more noise and hums, and without the lid, the airbox temp will more quickly rise, but when you're moving, intake temps are like 10-15° warmer without the lid, which is like 1hp.

Ahh, well I wasn't saying my engine would overheat if I took the lid off, that's ridiculous. I meant I was aware of higher intake temperatures, sorry for not being clear.

I like the sound of the car without the lid or with a cold air intake, but unfortunately I have no money at the moment, so that was why I asked. Also, I'm not too worried about my stock filter getting dirty because I plan to buy and install an intake relatively soon.

Once I get the money, I will look into the K&N kit mentioned earlier definitely. Another choice is the AEM V2. Any comments about the quality/difficulty of installation of this intake?

Get a real CAI piping to route the filter to cooler air in front of the frame beam.

Yes; the F20C injests so much air that it will create a black hole and we will all die from the anti-gravity

Leave the damn lid on for the love of all humanity

Come on, give the guy a break. This question must asked year after year after year. New analytical instruments have only recently been invented that can detect particulates never before known to man. We now know that the absence of the airbox lid permits the ingestion of sufficient fairy dust to make an S2000 fly 16.7 nanometers off the road surface. The great sound that's achieved is that of hundreds of Tinker Bells getting sucked to their deaths.
