A buddy of mine bought an RX8. I bought an S2000. My other buddies bought 350Z. Ask three people and a lot of times you'll get three answers.
RX8 is a great car, get some of the traits we love in our own cars but with a little bit more practicality, and if you love being different then it's definitely the car for you. It sits, rides, drives, and feels like a sportscar, and then you open the back doors and there's seats. But the fact of the matter is that rotarys, although by design is a superior concept to the traditional four stroke reciprocal piston engine, are not nearly as predictable. I use predictable in the place of reliable because those engine can be your grandma's car and breakdown everytime she hits the gas or can it can stand up to your lil bro's parking lot exhibitions. If I really wanted a rotary, I'd buy a real rotary and get the RX7, plus 13Bs are relatively cheap. The RX8 is a great car, but it's too compromised; it's trying to please way too many people and lost its way in basic fundamentals like the fun to mpg ratio, and again predictability.
