The badge is supplied in two parts, the S and the 2000. There is no doubt in my mind that the previous owner replaced the badge, for reasons you will have to determine.

One of the local Houston owners has the same "issue". She did not even notice until someone pointed it out to her. I'd think it's just a flaw from the factory.

Maybe you got the first car that was build on Monday morning after the New Year's festival. I'd suspect that consuming large quantities of sake the night before might lead to a loss of focus the next morning.

I had that happen to me after some body work. They thought the did it all right by lining the "S" and the "2000" up with what was on the other side of the car.

I DID buy it BRAND NEW... ONly 32 miles from test driving. It had NO body work before purchase, transit damage, is the only possibility other than factory error.

Either way... somebody screwed up something, and I didn't notice it for almost 2 years. That sucks

Ouch. Just FYI, you dont need to pay them the money to have the dealer fix it. Do it yourself.

Get new badges ($23.49 MSRP, I know you can get them much cheaper from hardtopguy or Majestic), get some tar/adhesive remover to pull the old ones off (make sure you've got some wax handy too) and follow these instructions:
