I don't know if this normal but I started to notice that when I "baby" the S and drive it like a grandma, it requires more effort to drive smoothly. Its like she's begging me to get into Vtec and take it 8.5k because the car feels a lot smoother up in the higher rpms when shifting with minimum effort.

Has anyone else notice this odd phenomenon?

 

Not really.

 

I hate driving my car every day, short distances to and from work. It wants to be driven, and driven the way it was designed to be. Not 30mph through stop and go traffic. I take it out as often as I can to remind myself why I love the car so much. If it werent for the feel it gives when actually driving the car, I would probably have moved on to a more suitable match for my driving habits.... which consists of short, slow trips. I go out of my way to drive it, drop the top and remind myself I'd be stupid if I moved on to something else. Also, drive the car, then drop the top, drive again, and tell me the car doesn't drive even better.

Bottom line is... Drive the car the way it was meant to be. Whether its on the way to work, or if you have to drive an hour out of your way, it will remind you why you chose it to move you around your boring day

 

Same here. Slow or fast, I can drive my car smooth.

 

I have noticed this before on various occasions. It feels as if the car has more power after driving it hard for while, even after starting it up the next day. The ecu must be doing something.

 

Whether I tool around like a geez or rip it to redline, I drive like it's in an endurance race, not a drag race. Careful shifts, well timed footwork and smooth steering works for me.

 

I think he's referring to the bog at pre- 3K shifting. You can be smooth as you want with the technical stuff, but from my experience, it still won't be as smooth as a 5K shift.

OP No you're not a lone. No you're not retarded. I shift at 4-4.5k (Daily driving) for this exact reason, especially through the first three gears.

 

It's called being torqueless...
