I agree, any shifts under 5k are more work to hit smoothly.. I love my S

Hmm I never really noticed this. My tranny shifts smooth as butter once warmed up . I also run amsoil synchromesh but that's a different thread topic lol. My car drives smooth no matter if I'm cruising and shifting at 2k rpm or taking it to redline its smooth either way.

My car is smooth at any RPM. If the car is bogging or isn't smooth at low RPM something isn't right.

I think some people's driving style is the main reason for this. Maybe your clutch takeup/shifting technique needs work at lower RPM.

100% agree.

I’ve only had me s2k for about a month, and am just getting accustomed to the fact that it shifts better if you keep the revs up. Sounded like I was ragging on it at first!

Cars bog... torque or no torque. If you shift at the wrong spot in a V8 it bogs and it has plenty of torque. Torque isn't the answer for everything. Doing what works best for a particular engine configuration makes the most sense to me.
You don't go around saying my car doesn't pull after 5800 RPM, you shift up and keep it moving.
My girl drove my car and had it 3rd gear by the time we got to 25 miles an hour ( I was on the other side losing my mind). Like damn... don't be a wuss. Put your foot in it and get after it for gods sake. Your killin me.

Yeah, I can drive it smooth regardless of speed, but I can tell you something for sure. This car needs about half an hour to an hour of "warm up"... then the engine feels amazing. That's at least what I've concluded. It doesn't quite feel the same in the beginning.
You can have three bars when you get out from your garage in the morning, but these three bars, are not the same as a fully driven car for awhile.

It is true that the transmission works better at higher RPM, and that everything works better after 30 minutes of warm-up. Putting around town is not where the S feels comfortable.

The higher the rpm you shift at, the less exacting you need to be when matching rpms. That is why it is smoother.

i can drive smooth either way but, kind of like a previous poster put it, driving the s2000 slowly around town is like keeping an animal in a small cage. i don't go around town like a complete idiot, and i know how far i can push it safely on the street, but your not going to catch me granny shifting at 3k rpm. my s2000 loves to be driven in a safe spirited manner, lots of vtec everyday.

The car does seem to love the occasional italian tuneup. After I take it up to 9K the next day it drives a lot better
