Just spent 10 days in Israel, and viewed zillions of cars in Jerusalem traffic jams - never saw an S2000 there. I wonder how easy it is to get 91 - 93 octane gasoline equivalent.

Guy,
i'm puzzled.

i went today to check 2006 S2K (it's EU 2.0L engine).
it done 50,000 km.

VSA was ON all the time.

the cutch is quite heavy.
chassis communicated quite good.
ride quality is firm but not too stiff. good balance.
i felt that engine doesn't bread freely and go up to the revs quite slow.

i'm talking about driving at highway in 4th gear at about 4,000 rpm - press throttle and it goes up not as fast as i get used in the miata......

is it normal?

it felt like engine is choked.....

also the cockpit is very small and engine noise is loud even at the low revs....
brakes felt weak and with no bite at all.

i start to thing that S2K might be too hardcore for me.......

what do you think?
When you say VSA was on all of the time do you mean the light was on?? Because atleast in the US version when VSA is on there are no lights on the dash. When it is off there is a ! with a triangle around it, if the VSA light is on then there is something wrong with the system.

When you gas at 4k the car will feel slower and then roll over into Vtec at around 6k, when it should take off sort of like building boost in your miata.

If it does not feel this way then something is not right with the car.

True .
There are only 40 cars (S2k) approximately over here (israel) , minus those were totalled (I know for sure about 1-2 cars that going off road each year) , & most of them were involved in at least light accident (as well as VSA models) .
Furthermore , can you guess what's the price for a new one?
A lil' bit more then 85k$
As my friend Croc ( ) , I too looking for one , and perhaps my caprice will force me to buy a new (I REALLY want white color , BTW there is no GPW over here but only platinum white pearl , & only 3 of that were sold) .

Let me apologize for my english .

Hmm... let's see... the S2000 doesn't have a turbo. It's not going to feel like your Miata. I came from a turbo Integra putting down about 250HP at the wheels with loads of torque, it made the S2000 seem quite slow at first.

That mileage is nothing. And if you can afford to buy that car, then you can afford to keep it running with maintenance, etc. It will be no more expensive to maintain than your Mazda. In fact, it will likely be more reliable (Honda > Mazda).

Sunlight, good to see you
FYI - i went to see the blue one.

High octane gasoline is not a problem - it's widely available.

When you say VSA was on all of the time do you mean the light was on??
i mean i didn't switch it off - after engine starts i didn't touch the VSA button.

well, i would expect it to run up to the high revs quickly and happily.
at least like non boosted Miata.

definitely not to feel choked......

Sounds like something was wrong with that car, it should have been WAY faster than a non-boosted Miata and depending on how much boost you were running with your boosted Miata faster than that.

If it runs slower than a non-boosted Miata, then the car is JUNK. However, I don't think an S2000 could be that slow and still actually run (or run without HUGE noticeable problems).

If it were that slow, you would have known yourself and gotten out of the car and left. So there are two options here.

1. You don't remember what it's like to drive a non-boosted Miata.

2. You are over exaggerating.

Or I guess there's:

3. You're right and this car is complete junk. You do not want it.

it's interesting to see you jumping on a conclusions.

beeing driving my miata with a stock motor for last 3 months i think i know how non-boosted miata feels.

i'm going to see another one tomorrow - hope this one will feel better...

try hitting the gas in 3rd at 4000rpms let Vtec show you what the S is all about, you'll love it then.
But the car performs on rails on windy roads and curves better than straight line stuff. Top down mountain roads is the S experience...
