it's funny that everyone craps on Honda service.
yeah - there are weak Honda shops, but there are also really good ones. one of the best things about a site like this one is that it helps you differentiate. i've had nothing but great service from the Honda shop i've gone to (to be honest i cannot imagine any shop, Honda, Acura or otherwise, being better). just find a good one and go to it. it's not rocket science.

In general,

Acura: Better service, better warranty, roadside assisstance, better image.

It really should have been an Acura! Yes, it was built to comemorate Hondas 50th anniversary but even the Type R Integra was built to celebrate 25 yrs from Hondas first formula1 victory, so that really doesn't hold much water. I think it was simply a mistake by AHM to put it as a honda. In fact, if you look down the lineup of both, you can see AHM have made several mistakes, ie. Integra name should have stayed and been rebadged as a Honda, EL should be sold in the states since it sells so well in Canada etc.

I would not mind if all Acuras were sold as Hondas in the US - but the Honda dealers just need to improve their customer service in both sales and service.

dsp is right- there was much debate inside Honda about how to badge the car. My 2000 Year S2000 manual also has a misprint which says "...your Acura...". Probably just recycled paragraphs from an Acura manual, but it makes you wonder if it wasn't first edited as a Acura S2000.

But its right as a Honda I suppose. Someone has said on here in the past that they took their S2000 to an Acura service center and got service there. You probably end up paying a little more and not sure if all of them would service it. Are Acura service centers also Honda authorized for warranty repairs?

But who would want an Acura S2000- they'd have to weigh it down with all that sound insulation they put in those to make them quiet. Actually, to be honest, I'd love to have more insulation around the transmission hump :-)

It is my understanding that while Acura can perform routine service like scheduled maintenance, oil changes, etc., they cannot perform any warranty work.

Agreed.

And I have owned both acura and honda vehicles(although they are actually the same) and would at least prefer the longer warranty for my honda. Not to mention the customer service. Maybe Honda Dealers are the way they are because they aren't used to people visiting them - their regular cars just don't need much service??

And when I had my acura it needed warranty service the first 1000 due to a seal going bad on the transmission - they fixed it, no questions asked.

I, for one, am happy they called this a Honda for selfish reasons - that being

I don't think I would have paid the price to get one if an Acura.

I had a 95 GSR and was looking to get something in 2000 model. The 2000 GSR was exactly like my 95 including those sorry Michelin tires.

The Acura dealers were desperate for product at that time and would have made Honda dealer gougers look like pikers.

I don't think anyone would have bought a year 2000 for MSRP.

First thing I'd do if I bought an Acura is change the Badges to "Honda" . Why Honda needed to create Acura is something I'll never understand. Shut Acura down and sell em like they should be sold, as Honda.

I have owned Acura 2.5 TL a long time ago, and now, I have a S2000..
the fact is, Acura offers much better service..!! Honda doesn't..!!

Well, I will say Honda dealer with Acura service will be the best solution..
but I doubt it will ever happen..!! There are 2 local Acura dealers I have been dealed with, they are all good, but I have been to 3 Honda dealerships, I haven't found any that I like..(but at least one does a good job on cars)

Moreoever, I personally prefer Honda badge...but it doesn't really matter to me (it is rick's badge now anywayz)
