I'm wondering if the seasonally-adjusted S2k sales are slowing. In the February issue of Golf Digest, there is a two page ad. It is the same picture as the one in Car&Driver but from a different angle and a lot larger. It would make a nice poster. This is the first non-automotive magazine that I've seen a S2k ad.

Got a scanner? I'd like to see!

I guess its not too far out of their league, the s2k can hold a golf bag or two in the trunk - which is a helluva lot better than I can say about the Miata!

Funny, the Aston Martin's trunk sizes are guaged on the ability to fit a large golf bag. It is manditory that it can fit!

hehe... many luxury sports cars are marketed with the "golf bag" measurement.

They are just trying to get people to walk into the Honda dealer. Once there, they hope people buy another Honda car. At the very least, they want people to change thier impression of Honda. It's an "image" thing. Honda is tyring to get away from the "cheap reliable car" image, and get a "solid performance cars at reasonable prices" image.

With Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo and Suzuki selling super cheap and reliable cars (Hyundai Accent & Kia Rio are both under $9K with a 60/60,000 warranty!), Honda needs to upgrade its image. Besides, most Honda cars are no longer "cheap" cars (Accord, Odyssey, Prelude, CR-V...), especially compared to the Korean manufacturers.

To grow, Honda needs to compete with Toyota. If they can convince the general public that they are better than, or at least equal to, a Porsche, BMW or Mercedes, then the rest is easy. Compared to Toyota's volumes, Honda is a very small company.

I can tell you one thing for sure. They convinced me. I would never have entered a Honda dealer if they did not have the S2000. When we bought my wife's car, we checked out BMW, Lexus, Mercedes and Toyota. The Volvo dealer was next to the Lexus dealer, so we looked there too. We bought a Volvo. Never walked into a Honda dealer, or even looked up the lineup on the web. Why would we? We weren't looking for a "cheap" car.

For my next car, I will definitely be checking out the Honda/Acura lineup as soon as I leave the Ferrari dealer.

Sorry Schatten I don't have a scanner. Let me see if I can do it at work.

By the way, I forgot to mention that in the add it states:

"It goes 0-60 in less than 6 seconds. But it's 5.82192137 seconds you'll never foreget."

This is the first time that I've seen a precise 0-60 time from Honda.

I was in the doctors office a few weeks ago and there was an S2000 ad in Money magazine. First time I had seen one at all.
