S2000 around til 2011!
sounds like bs to me. There was another thread posted just recently that stated the complete opposite.
And i jus love this quote "In the meantime, Honda said that the existing car "has been revised for 2006 with changes to aesthetics and performance." I dont really consider different wheels aesthetic changes and performance upgrade? are u kidding me??? oh yeah that's right 237hp.. w/ the new rating woohoo! And did u notice that's not even an '06 in the pic

GUYS ..... I am telling you ...2007 is it.
Honda updates the S2000 every 2 years and refreshes every 4....
2000 - Launched
2002 - Update - Glass window, ecu, suspension tweek, console cover, rims, ect....
2004 - Refresh - Ap2, new engine tranny set up, lights, bumpers ,console, sspension, rims, ect..
2006- Update - Seats, dash cubby, VSA, intake, rims
2008 - THIS would be the time for a whole new refresh... but Honda's VGA (S2000 market replacement) should be hitting the market at this time riding in the waves set off by the next gen NSX. I'll bet the house 2007 is all she wrote.
The S2000's platform can't be reused for another vehicle.. its too specific for what it is which would mean Honda would have to contenue the S... which would cost more than it would make... looose its competative edge to newer vehicles... and comete internally with the VGA....its just a matter of good business decisions.

it would be more cost efficient if they kept the S2K but i think they want to go a different direction when they replace the car. i thought 2006 was the final year, so i sold my IS cause i had to have it before they stop making it. Great!
sports car-coupe market sales has always been up then down. classic example is the 350Z and RX8. when they first came out there were waiting lists a mile long, now they're sitting on the lot by the dozens. i don't think honda wants to spend 1/2 billion or more on a coupe and have it sell less than a 1000 a year. business wise they're better off keeping the S2K as their halo car for another 4 years and replace it with a vehicle that they can share a platform with. if and when the next gen TSX and TL goes rwd they have a starting point for next gen S2K.

The only way I would buy another S is if Honda offered a "Club Spec" model. Sort of like the Type R concept that was discussed endlessly on this board a few years ago. 03 engine, bigger rear end, single Ti exhaust and about 200 lbs lighter; all off the shelf items. Problem is, the only market would be to repeat buyers. But, it would be a great option and could boost last model year sales.
