Believe it, everyone should have expected this, i did. Besides, if Honda were to discontinue the s2k, they would be left with the civic si as their "sports car" .

Not true... how can you say that when Honda has already stated they are building a replacement for the S2000 (VGA)?... to say nothing if the upcoming v-10 powered NSX replacement??

The VGA is all vaporware until a rep from Honda comes out and say they're working on a replacement (all we have so far is speculation from car magazines). The NSX won't be here for about 3 years, even then we don't know if it'll be a sports car or a GT car (new rumors has it Honda is ditching the sports car for a GT version). By the time the nsx is released, if the s2k is still in production, it'll easily be in its 10th year of production (which is about right with my statement on how the s2k will easily go unchanged and have a 10 year production run). If it isn't the civic or accord, don't expect any changes for it

anyway, its safe to say we shouldn't expect an s2k/nsx replacement in a year or two, so expect the s2k to fill that void till a replacement hits the market. For a car company that touts itself with a rich racing heritage, it would be foolish to discontinue the s2k now (even though its starting to look like it'll suffer the fate of the nsx), and leave us with a civic si as their halo sport car (which isn't a sports car).

The S2000 handles, steers, shifts, and brakes so well, I would be happy leaving it as is with one exception: Put a 300hp 2.4L turbo motor (tweaked from the new RDX) into the S2000. Beef the brakes a little bit, stronger clutch, and you're good to go.

Not to mention the styling is fairly timeless like the 911, so no big updating needed there.

In case some of you had forgotten, Honda didn't make its name in the US by racing. It made it much the same way Hyundai is doing now- building an inexpensive, mass-marketed shell and motor. Some things are much easier for them versus how Honda had to break through. Personally, I couldn't care less if they continue/discontinue making them. Not sure what the big, hairy deal is.
